MENTORING & COUNSELLING |
The objective of this program is to enable young people develop healthy attitudes and lifestyles. To accomplish this, the program addresses psycho social, health and academic issues. The program is designed to prepare young people to make positive decisions at this critical stage in their physical, cognitive, emotional and social development. These components of the program focus on the importance of developing strong mentoring relationships with young people at an early age to make a difference in their life decisions. We realize that young people are looking for role models to emulate and someone trustworthy they can share with. We therefore offer counseling sessions on issues pertaining to but not limited to abuse. We also mentor young people especially former street children and orphans, generally referred to as orphans and vulnerable children (OVCS). We have employed the following programs to accomplish this goal:

| PROJECT INSPIRE HOPE: |
| |
During our training programs, we invite professionals from a wide range of careers to talk to young people as a group or one on one to motivate them. Most of our role models are people who have gone through tough times themselves before they got to where they are. Positive mentoring experiences can help young people improve their relationships with school, family, and peers. Studies have shown that children need only one bond with an adult who believes in them to help them be resilient through tough times and empower them to succeed.

| A TIME TO SHARE: |
Young people sometimes need opportunities to talk to and be supported by other young people or adults who are removed from their immediate family. A Time to Share is the a project that gives young people a safe and confidential environment to deal with the challenges and confusion that they may be facing by talking someone they can trust. KIR Foundation is also affiliated to organizations that offer professional counseling.
