YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

We believe that every young person has great potentials. And our young people are indeed leaders in their own right and the custodians of tomorrow. However we realize there is a gap in the current educational and developmental structures to give them the necessary nascent leadership attitude. We work every day to help them set and achieve their personal and educational goals. As a result, they gain confidence as they discover themselves, new interests and passions.

KIR Foundation makes sure that every young person we encounter has an opportunity to envision and pursue a positive future, and to take an active role in strengthening his or her community. Furthermore, we inspire, educate and empower young people through various learning activities like: lectures, interactive workshops, book clubs and participation in community service. The programs that help in achieving these are:

   PROJECT IMPACT FOR CHANGE:

This program employs an effective youth leadership development curriculum delivered through lectures and workshops aimed at youths in and out of the formal academic structure. The target is to help build a stronger spirit of resilience, self-esteem and a positive sense of identity and leadership qualities.

   BOOK CLUBS:

We believe that effective leaders read. The central aim of this program is to encourage young people to read, discuss and strengthen their abilities in reading. Also to increase their chance of passing examinations. Furthermore, to instill in self confidence in' them and nurture their leadership and communication skills.

   BOOK DRIVE:

We believe that early readers lead. We promote literacy and education by donating books. According to CIA World Factbook; 'limited access to proper reading tools like books is one of the greatest contributing factors to illiteracy'. When we put books in the hands of those who are eager to learn, but do not have the means; we raise the standard of education. We also give the gift of learning to young people. KIR Foundation has provided about 1,000 books to rehabilitation and youth resource centers and directly in the hands of young people from February 2011, till date.
